Guest Panelist for Makerspace Webinar

Updated: Oct 2, 2019

This past week, I was an invited panelist for the special webinar on Designing and Researching Makerspaces, organizated by the Association of Communications and Technology (AECT) Graduate Student Organization, within which many of our graduate students are in leadership positions. Sonia Tiwari, a current LDT graduate student and one of my former students in my Makerspaces in Education course, moderated the panel with a fellow student from Michigan State. Additional invitees included Xun Ge, a Professor at the University of Oklahoma, Jen Weible, an Associate Professor at Central Michigan, and Will Ashley, one of my former advisees, who is now a makerspace coordinator for a school and community in coastal Mississippi. There was an exciting discussion, complete with audience questions, where we covered research practices, design considerations, challenges, and our own paths into our roles as researchers, educators and practitioners. An archived list of Webinars, including our own, can be found on the AECT website.
