This semester, I embarked on teaching a novel curriculum for youth, in an outreach class with the Franklin and Science Leadership Academy… The class is a natural progression from the original “Physical Computing for Students and Teachers” NSF ITEST program I started back in 2004. However, the tools have gotten much more plug and play friendly. The goal is to combine contemporary pre-fabricated tools, software, e-crafting and visual object-oriented programming, and to incorporate modern theories on how youth learn and can be empowered through informal learning scaffolds.
